We came across a ghost town on the way home. Actually, an old mining town dating back to 1905. This house is called the bottle house. Yes, those are really bottles in the adobe.
This was the main store and it is up for sale. The town church. Notice the hitching posts to tie up the old horse. It amazes me that no one has disturbed the rock landscaping.
This was amazing! Angels out in front of the church! Out in the middle of nowhere!
This was also by the church. I get the miner, but a penguin??????????

We didn't realize how close to Death Valley we are. About 45 minutes to the valley. We are going to have a great time exploring this amazing park. Just a view
Looking back at the valley. Can't wait til we have the time to really explore!
Oh by the way, You know the storm we had...we are still driving through muddy water.

Our first week in Pahrump and we got one hell of a storm! It started at daybreak and went on all day and all night. Sometimes the lightning was too close and the thunder too loud. We had to venture out about 4 pm for ice to have a cocktail and this is what we saw......This is the main street in town. Notice how dark? Pahrump usually gets only 4 inches of rain a year. We got half already! It was cool sitting out under the awning and listening to the storm. This is across the street from us. It made a big mess! Remember this is 4 in the afternoon and it went on all night!
Next day...we went exploring and found a lot of flooding.
Very muddy water about 2 feet deep and running fast over the road. Look at the right of the pic.. white water... let's go rafting.

On our way home. We cut our day out a little short because another storm seemed to be brewing and we didn't want to get caught on the wrong side of the creek, which they call washes cuz the only time the creek has water is when it rains. Which is seldom???????????????

Mono Lake..........While we were in the museum we had a little earthquake.
Mono Lake has 2 1/2 times the salt of the ocean.

This is Patterson Bridge in Gold Beach, Oregon. Everyone out there is trying to catch a big salmon, including me and Clarence. And thanks to Jim..................... Meet Jim. We met him in the RV park and he has a boat but can't go out on the bay by himself because of health problems. So he invites us! Jim is a great person and we have a new friend. He really is inspiring. With all his difficulties he just doesn't let it get him down. He was told he would be in a wheelchair by 25 and he is 72 and still walking, just a little wobbly. A lot of credit goes to Jim's wife! But she gets sea sick!
My ears got cold and I brought my fish in and lost him! Darn it!
Jim's boat. Sure was a treat. There had to be at least 200 boats out there in the bay!
